“By joining Best For Colorado, we’re setting our focus on being the best place to work, good neighbors, and leaders in sustainable business practices.”
What matters most to us:
1908 Brands is growing quickly. At our core, we are environmentalists so we’ve chosen to focus our B Corp efforts on building environmentally sustainable business practices. We've joined the Boulder County Public Health Department’s PACE program to monitor our waste, water and energy efficiency. We also joined the Eco-Cycle Green Star Business Program. We work with an EcoCycle consultant to train our employees on best practices, help us improve the lifecycle of our products, and help us create zero-waste facilities and events. As a 1% for the Planet member, we donate 1% of our net revenue to environmentally focused non-profits. Locally, we support Leave No Trace, Community Fruit Rescue, Sheep Mountain Alliance, Thorne Nature Experience and The Access Fund. We’ll be scheduling financial health trainings for our employees. These workshops will help workers improve their ability to budget, stretch paychecks and plan for their financial futures.
What we learned:
The Best for Colorado program has introduced us to a range of public services, non-profits and business partners who can help us be a better Colorado based company. By joining Best For Colorado, we’re setting our focus on being the best place to work, good neighbors, and leaders in sustainable business practices.
What we did as a result:
After joining the Best for Colorado, we connected to the Boulder Country Public Health Department’s PACE Program and invited their team to assess our waste, water and electricity use. They suggested improvements to help us reduce our manufacturing facility’s environment impact. We also decided to partner with EcoCycle, a Boulder-based non-profit waste management company and become an EcoCycle Green Star Business.
